I had over 40 jobs by the time I was 24. Attended four different colleges — didn't finish any of them. By every conventional measure, I was supposed to fail.
Instead, I took one corporate job in IT and went from entry level to IT Director in under three years — with no prior technology education or background. Left the industry at 27 when the company's founder died. Decided I was done working for anyone else.
In 2012, I founded Violation Removal Inc. with absolutely no experience in real estate. Within years it became a multi-million dollar consultancy — A+ BBB rated — serving homeowners, landlords, property managers, and attorneys across all five boroughs of New York City.
In 2021, I moved to University Heights, Ohio and invited neighbors over for a minyan — a Jewish prayer group. Two days later, the mayor called and told me I needed a special-use permit to pray in my own home.
Then the city sent a cease-and-desist letter. Then they hired private investigators to sit outside my house and surveil Orthodox Jewish residents on one of the holiest days of the year.
I didn't comply. I sued. The case — Grand v. City of University Heights — went to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, then to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and is now pending before the Supreme Court of the United States.
